District level
Ideally, the steps mentioned above are to be followed for the district level estimation using population ratio of blocks as
weights. However, in case of PoC, one block was selected from one district. Hence, all the scores are same at block and
district level and the values hence show no difference.
Therefore, to illustrate how the District score would differ from the block score, a hypothetical district was used for
calculation, using the available score of Blocks.
Two blocks were considered from a district and another block from another district.
Step 1: Weight at District level
Block population ratio have been used here as weight at district level.
Step 2: Estimation of thematic score at district level
Weighted arithmetic means of the thematic scores of the blocks from a district, using population ratio of blocks as
weights, have been estimated as the district level thematic score. The formula used:
Thematic score_District =
Where Wi is the population ratio of the corresponding block.

Step 3: Estimation of overall PDI score at District level
Weighted arithmetic mean of the overall PDI of the blocks from a district, using population ratio of blocks as weights,
have been estimated as the district level overall PDI score. The formula used:
Overall PDI score_District =
Where Wi is the population ratio of the corresponding Block.
