obtain fund allocations
10. Adopt multi-sectoral approach through convergence, integration and focused attention
11. Build reliable financial databases and development measurements of progress at GP level needed in
specific sectors and specific geographies for the macro level (Centre or state), allocation of scarce
resources, programme interventions and policy decisions
12. Bring more transparency & accountability among Panchayats and departments.
13. Ensure no one is left behind
Panchayats are the vital links of development and democracy. The Proof of Concept has shown the availability of 688
data points, (albeit with a few needing survey). But it is still a huge set that the GPs have collected. These lead up to the
577 Indicators that the GPs have said are required. The significance to all stakeholders and the potential of the
measures available from LIF, Themes and PDI cannot be limited by the challenges and limitations that can be
overcome. The Committee’s Recommendations provide action points for systemic institutionalization of PDI, to deliver
on its full scope for bringing measures of development progress along with providing evidence for grassroots level
sustainable development with the PRIs and all stakeholders being drawn into for achieving the Localization of SDGs in
rural India.
“Our shared vision is to address the huge data gap in informing the
implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and measuring its
progress, develop and promote the use of all data sources in accessible formats,
including administrative-based data through the use of modern technology, to close
the existing world digital divide.” - Bern Data Compact for the Decade of Action on
the Sustainable Development Goals 2021 (extract)
